Roderick Camilleri, Head of the School of Art, recently joined Antonella Galea Loffreda on Campus Breakfast, 103.7 FM, to discuss the final stage of the Erasmus+ project DigiTech, which is being coordinated by the Malta School of Art and the Mikiel Anton Vassalli College. This innovative initiative focuses on the integration of digital technology in art education, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, creative exchange, and the development of forward-looking teaching methodologies. Camilleri highlighted how the project has explored the evolving role of digital tools in artistic practice and education, emphasising their potential to enrich learning, production, and international cooperation in the arts education field.
During the interview, Camilleri also outlined the work carried out during the three key mobilities held in Malta, Greece, and Turkey. In Malta, participants engaged in hands-on workshops on digital photography, video editing, interactive media platforms, and software applications that can enhance educational content in the classroom. In Greece, the focus shifted to digital storytelling, 3D design for teaching and learning, and the use of virtual reality and other digital tools. The final mobility in Turkey centred on community engagement, leadership in the arts, and the integration of traditional practices with contemporary digital resources. As part of the project’s concluding phase, the Malta School of Art will host a public digital workshop on 16th June. Further details will be announced in the coming days.
