SCHOOL COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2021/2022

The School Council is an essential aspect of the School’s democratic process. Its role is not limited to fund raising and similar activities. The School Council commits to:

• discuss and monitor the school environment and the school amenities and propose ways to improve them;
• help the school with ideas of creating platforms where students are exposed to a wider audience outside the school boundaries, preferably in conjunction with other entities (e.g. educational institutions);
• create ways to generate income for the school (e.g. fund raising activities)
• discuss and monitor any environmental problems;
• discuss any problems related to students’ well-being.

As per the Internal Quality Assurance approved by NCHFE, the School Councils in Schools forming part of Mikiel Anton Vassalli College are made up of:

• A President – who is nominated by the Minister for Education
• A Secretary/Treasurer – who is the Centre Administrator
• Three representatives elected from among the Educators based at the school
• Two representatives elected from among the Adult Learners (16 years +)
• Two representatives elected from among the Parents/Guardians of students under the age of 16

Thus, we now two parents/guardians of learners (under the age of 16) at and two adult learners (16+) who are ready to serve on the newly formed School Council. Parents/Guardians and Adult Learners to get involved, participate and vote in the forthcoming School Council Elections.

Nominations are to be sent by email to mavc.schoolofart@ilearn.edu.mt by no later than Friday 29th January at 1:00pm.

The nominations must clearly indicate your name as candidates and must contain in the subject either ‘School Council Elections Parents/Guardians’ or ‘School Council Elections 16+’, according to the position you are applying for. 

A parent/guardian who is also a learner at the School of Art, may be nominated as representatives of each category. However, if they are elected for both posts, they will have to choose one post.

If there are more than 2 candidates, online elections for the Parent/Guardian of Students (under the age of 16) will be held between Monday 8^th and Friday 12^th February 2021. Each student will be entitled to one vote. You will receive further information about the voting on the student’s email address, after the nomination process is complete.
